The Holmes Family Christmas Tree!

I was more than excited to get our Christmas tree this year!  Adam had a huge check-ride to study for so we had to wait a little longer than usual.  So that means maybe our tree won't actually die before Christmas... ;)  We started out making sure our boys had good tree hunting nutrition = donuts.
Then we rode the train to take us out into the forest.
Jacob was really helpful in trying to find the perfect tree this year... with his Santa hat, of course.  :)
Casey wasn't so sure what the heck we were doing...
...but he REALLY liked standing on all of the stumps!

Since Jacob isn't yet old enough to help Daddy saw the tree down, he found a twig and used it to saw his own tree.
Casey thought that sounded pretty fun, so he joined in too.

Somehow we keep getting taller trees every year... so that means the time it takes to cut it down increases exponentially every year.  When will these tree farms allow chain saws?!

There is just something about little boys going on a tree hunt.  Standing on stumps, collecting sticks, pretending to cut trees down, peeking under the tree to help their daddy... it has become one of my favorite days in the entire year.  I LOVE getting our Christmas tree.

Waiting for the train to take us and our tree back to the car.

Jacob and Gavin loved helping us decorate the tree too!  They each have a few ornaments of their very own so they love getting to choose where they go.

Standing back to admire his work.  ;)

Casey pretty much colored the entire time!

He decided that our tree definitely needed a train underneath it though.  :)

Red Barn Tree Farm, right on the Orting Highway. We love it there! :) I know, you can probably get a Christmas tree in your shorts and a tank top? ;)
