Carving pumpkins

Casey is at the age where he is starting to remember each holiday from the year before.  So once October came around, he wanted to know when we were going to the pumpkin patch, when we would carve our pumpkins, and when he would get to go trick-or-treating!
After waiting a few weeks, he was really happy to finally dig into his pumpkin!
He mostly liked taking the "hat" off and putting it back on.

Daddy helped him carve... we just asked him what shapes he wanted for his eyes and nose, and how many teeth his smile should have.
 Tadaa!
Sweet boy!  He was so excited.
This was the first year that Jacob didn't want to make a regular face.
He wanted his pumpkin to have a Kirby face.
Gavin just wasn't into all of the pumpkin guts.  He immediately wanted to wash his hands every time he reached inside.
Finally he came around to the idea when he realized that we weren't going to do all the work for him.  ;)
He was super happy with his Mario pumpkin though!

Oh, I forgot to mention that Jacob's pumpkin was totally moldy when he opened it up.  YUCK.
So I gave him my pumpkin just as tears started welding in his eyes.  Adam and I shared the biggest one and decided to go half and half with it.  Here is Adam's half...
 ... here is mine!  Ha!

Ella was very intrigued when we opened up her pumpkin.
She stared inside for a long time and finally began to take the seeds out, one by one.

I think she realized that she wasn't getting very far.
So I scooped a bunch out for her.
 And what do you know??
She started scooping them all back in!

Which she thought was pretty funny!
 Silly girl!
Our pumpkins glowing on Halloween night!
