I've realized that the hardest part about having a new baby is making sure his big brothers aren't squishing, strangling, or putting chokable items in his mouth. Seriously, I know they don't intend to harm him. Sometimes the hugs are just a little too tight or they just want to share their food... or really small toy. So I just have to make sure that I'm watching Casey, every minute. That way, I can catch Jacob before he puts the quarter right by sleeping Casey's mouth. (Yes, also happened!)
Adam and I felt like we were constantly telling Jacob and Gavin "NO!" when it came to the baby. Everytime they got near him when he was sleeping, tried to press the binky into his mouth, or pushed his swing super hard... we would say, NO! NO! NO! So we decided to implement special time with Casey into our day.
Basically how it works is the boys each get special, supervised time where they can hold and touch Casey. We sit right next to them and try to make sure they are being gentle. :) That way, they don't feel like their baby brother is always off limits. They absolutely adore Casey and always want to play with him... now they just have to ask for some special time before they do.
